The future tense and its four sub-types

 

The future tense is divided into four sub-types:

1.      Simple Future (will + verb 1/ base verb)

2.      Future Continuous (will be + verb-ing)

3.      Future Perfect (will have + verb3/past participle)

4.      Future Perfect Continuous (will have been + verb-ing)

1. Simple Future Tense (Used for general future actions or decisions)

  • I will visit my grandparents next weekend.
  • She will complete her assignment by tomorrow.
  • They will buy a new car next year.
  • We will go to the cinema tonight.
  • He will start a new job in April.

2. Future Continuous Tense (Used for actions that will be in progress at a specific future time)

  • At this time tomorrow, I will be traveling to Kathmandu.
  • She will be studying for her exams at 8 PM.
  • They will be watching the football match when we arrive.
  • We will be waiting for you at the airport.
  • He will be working late tonight.

3. Future Perfect Tense (Used for actions that will be completed before a specific time in the future)

  • By next year, I will have graduated from college.
  • She will have finished her project by 5 PM.
  • They will have built the house by December.
  • We will have completed the task before the deadline.
  • He will have left by the time you reach there.

4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense (Used for actions that will have been happening for a duration before a specific future time)

  • By next month, I will have been working in this company for five years.
  • She will have been studying for six hours by midnight.
  • They will have been traveling for 10 hours by the time they arrive.
  • We will have been waiting for you for an hour when you get here.
  • He will have been living in the US for three years by next summer.

1. Simple Future Tense (20 Examples)

(Used for general future actions, decisions, predictions, or offers.)

1.      I will visit my grandmother next week.

2.      She will call you tomorrow.

3.      They will buy a new phone soon.

4.      We will travel to Japan next year.

5.      He will start his new job in April.

6.      The sun will rise at 6 AM tomorrow.

7.      She will complete her assignment by Friday.

8.      The train will arrive at 10 AM.

9.      I will help you with your homework.

10. They will play football in the evening.

11. He will bring the documents later.

12. We will attend the meeting next Monday.

13. She will learn Spanish this summer.

14. He will buy a new laptop next month.

15. The company will launch a new product soon.

16. I will start a YouTube channel.

17. They will throw a party for her birthday.

18. We will reach the station in an hour.

19. She will adopt a puppy next week.

20. He will donate blood tomorrow.


2. Future Continuous Tense (20 Examples)

(Used for actions that will be in progress at a specific time in the future.)

1.      I will be sleeping when you arrive.

2.      She will be studying for her exam at 8 PM.

3.      They will be traveling to London this time tomorrow.

4.      We will be watching a movie in the evening.

5.      He will be working late tonight.

6.      The kids will be playing in the park at 5 PM.

7.      She will be waiting for the bus when we reach there.

8.      They will be having dinner at this hour.

9.      I will be cooking lunch at noon.

10. The company will be conducting interviews next week.

11. He will be driving to the office at 9 AM.

12. We will be discussing the project during the meeting.

13. She will be shopping in the afternoon.

14. He will be practicing for the competition tomorrow.

15. They will be enjoying their vacation in Bali.

16. I will be jogging in the park at sunrise.

17. The teacher will be explaining the topic at that time.

18. She will be working on her research paper all day.

19. He will be fixing his bike in the garage.

20. We will be waiting outside when you arrive.


3. Future Perfect Tense (20 Examples)

(Used for actions that will be completed before a specific time in the future.)

1.      I will have finished my work by 6 PM.

2.      She will have completed her thesis by next month.

3.      They will have built the house before winter.

4.      We will have arrived at the airport by 10 AM.

5.      He will have completed his degree by 2026.

6.      The team will have won the championship by then.

7.      She will have cooked dinner before we get home.

8.      He will have written three books by next year.

9.      They will have saved enough money to buy a car.

10. We will have reached our destination by midnight.

11. She will have cleaned the house before guests arrive.

12. He will have recovered from the flu by next week.

13. I will have submitted my report before the deadline.

14. The company will have hired new employees by July.

15. They will have finished their exams by Friday.

16. We will have packed our bags before the trip.

17. She will have left the office before noon.

18. He will have completed the marathon by evening.

19. They will have planted 100 trees by Earth Day.

20. The show will have started by the time we arrive.


4. Future Perfect Continuous Tense (20 Examples)

(Used for actions that will have been happening for a duration before a specific future time.)

1.      By next year, I will have been working here for five years.

2.      She will have been studying for six hours by 8 PM.

3.      They will have been traveling for 10 hours before reaching.

4.      We will have been waiting for the bus for an hour.

5.      He will have been living in Canada for three years.

6.      The team will have been practicing for months before the match.

7.      She will have been learning French for a year.

8.      He will have been running for 30 minutes by the time you come.

9.      They will have been building the school for six months.

10. We will have been watching the series for a week.

11. She will have been working on her research for two years.

12. He will have been waiting for a response for days.
