Sample Question 1
Some people think that online learning is as effective as classroom
learning, while others believe it can never replace traditional education.
Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Sample Answer ( 280 words, Band 7+)
Introduction
Education plays a crucial role in shaping an individual’s future. With the rise
of technology, many people argue that online learning is just as effective as
traditional classroom education. However, others maintain that physical
classrooms can never be replaced. This essay will discuss both views and
present my own opinion.
Body Paragraph 1 – Online Learning is
Effective
Advocates
of online education believe it provides flexibility and accessibility. Students
can study at their own pace, attend virtual lectures, and access unlimited
resources from anywhere. For instance, platforms like Coursera and edX allow
learners from developing countries to gain knowledge from world-class
universities. Moreover, online learning often reduces costs, making education
more affordable for many families.
Body Paragraph 2 – Traditional Learning is
Irreplaceable
On
the other hand, supporters of classroom education argue that face-to-face
interaction with teachers and peers is essential for effective learning.
Classrooms provide an environment for discussions, group activities, and
immediate feedback, which online platforms may lack. Furthermore, schools and
colleges offer social development, discipline, and networking opportunities
that cannot be fully replicated virtually. For example, students build teamwork
and communication skills through in-person collaboration.
Opinion
In my view, while online learning is a valuable supplement, it cannot
completely replace traditional classrooms. A blended approach that combines
digital resources with face-to-face teaching is the most effective way to
ensure both flexibility and social development.
Conclusion
In conclusion, online learning offers flexibility and affordability, whereas
classroom learning provides interaction and personal growth. Although both have
advantages, I believe traditional education remains more effective, especially
when integrated with modern technology.
Sample Question 2
Some people think that studying abroad is better for students, while
others believe it is more beneficial to study in their own country. Discuss
both views and give your own opinion.
Sample Answer (280 words, Band 7–7.5)
Introduction
Education is a vital part of an individual’s life, and deciding whether to
study abroad or in one’s home country is a significant choice. While some argue
that studying overseas offers better opportunities, others believe local
education provides more advantages. This essay will discuss both perspectives
before giving my own view.
Body Paragraph 1 – Studying Abroad
Supporters
of studying abroad argue that it exposes students to new cultures, languages,
and advanced teaching methods. For instance, universities in developed
countries often provide modern facilities, innovative research opportunities,
and international networking. These experiences not only broaden students’
horizons but also enhance their career prospects in the global job market.
Moreover, living independently in a foreign country can build confidence and
maturity.
Body Paragraph 2 – Studying in One’s Own
Country
On
the other hand, many believe that local education is more practical and
affordable. Studying in one’s home country reduces financial pressure since
tuition fees and living costs are usually lower. In addition, students can stay
close to their families, which provide emotional support and stability.
Furthermore, local education often focuses on the country’s culture, history,
and job market, which helps students integrate more easily into their society
after graduation.
Conclusion & Opinion
In
conclusion, both studying abroad and studying at home have unique benefits.
While foreign education can provide global exposure and better resources, local
education offers affordability and familiarity. In my opinion, the choice
depends on an individual’s goals and financial situation. However, if resources
allow, studying abroad may offer greater long-term advantages.

Question
Some
people think that children should start school at a very young age, while
others believe they should begin later. Discuss both views and give your
opinion.
Answer (250 words)
Introduction
The appropriate age for children to start school has long been debated. While
some argue that an early start benefits intellectual growth, others believe
children should begin formal education later. This essay will examine both
perspectives before presenting my own view.
Body Paragraph 1
Supporters
of early schooling claim that children are quick learners at a young age. They
argue that introducing reading, writing, and mathematics early develops
essential skills faster. For example, many Asian countries start schooling at
age four or five, and their students often perform well academically.
Additionally, early schooling may help working parents by providing childcare
and structured learning simultaneously.
Body Paragraph 2
On
the other hand, many believe children should spend their early years developing
social and emotional skills at home. Starting school later allows them to enjoy
childhood and avoid unnecessary stress. Countries like Finland, where formal
education begins at seven, consistently rank highly in international education
surveys. This suggests that a later start does not hinder academic success but
may enhance creativity and well-being.
Opinion
In my opinion, children should not be rushed into formal learning. A later
start gives them time to develop emotionally and socially, which is equally
important as academic progress.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while early schooling may speed up academic learning, starting
later supports overall development. Therefore, I believe delaying formal
education is more beneficial in the long run.
Sample 2
Question:
Some
people think that social media has improved human communication, while others
believe it has damaged real interactions. Discuss both views and give your
opinion.
Introduction
With the rise of platforms like Facebook and Instagram, communication methods
have transformed dramatically. Some argue social media has enhanced
connectivity, while others feel it has weakened real-life interactions. This
essay will discuss both sides before giving my opinion.
Body Paragraph 1
Proponents
argue that social media connects people instantly, regardless of distance.
Families and friends can stay in touch through video calls, messages, and photo
sharing. For instance, migrant workers use social media to maintain strong ties
with loved ones back home. Additionally, platforms allow individuals to share
ideas and participate in global conversations, promoting cultural exchange and
awareness.
Body Paragraph 2
Conversely,
critics claim social media reduces the quality of face-to-face communication.
People often spend hours online but neglect personal relationships. This can
lead to loneliness, shallow connections, and even mental health issues. For
example, young people may prefer chatting online instead of meeting friends in
person, which limits their social development and emotional bonding.
Opinion
I believe social media is useful when used in moderation, but it should not
replace real human interactions. A healthy balance between online and offline
communication is essential.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while social media has made communication easier and faster, it
also risks weakening genuine relationships. Therefore, it should be used as a
supportive tool, not as a substitute for real-life connections.

Question
Some people believe that
advertisements encourage unnecessary spending, while others think they provide
useful information. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
Introduction
Advertisements are an inseparable part of modern life. Some claim they push
people to buy things they do not need, while others argue they inform consumers
about new products. This essay will consider both perspectives before giving my
view.
Body Paragraph 1
Critics
argue that advertisements manipulate people’s emotions to create artificial
desires. For example, luxury brands often use celebrities to persuade
consumers, even when such products are not essential. Children are particularly
vulnerable to advertisements for toys and junk food, which can lead to
unhealthy lifestyles and wasted money.
Body Paragraph 2
On
the other hand, advertisements inform people about the availability and
benefits of products. Without them, consumers might not know about new
medicines, technologies, or services that could improve their lives. For
instance, public health campaigns use advertising to spread awareness about
vaccinations or road safety, which has a positive impact on society.
Opinion
In my opinion, advertisements are beneficial when they provide genuine
information. However, individuals must be cautious and make informed decisions
rather than blindly following persuasive messages.
Conclusion
To conclude, although advertisements sometimes encourage unnecessary spending,
they also play a vital role in informing consumers. A critical approach to
advertising ensures that people can enjoy its benefits without being misled.
Sample 4
Question:
Some
people believe that living in cities is better for a good life, while others
think life in the countryside is healthier and more peaceful. Discuss both
views and give your opinion.
Introduction
Where to live is a personal choice, and opinions differ on whether cities or
rural areas provide a better quality of life. Some argue that urban areas offer
more opportunities, while others claim the countryside is healthier. This essay
will discuss both sides before expressing my opinion.
Body Paragraph 1
City
life offers numerous facilities, such as modern hospitals, schools, and
entertainment. People have greater access to jobs, cultural events, and public
transportation. For example, young professionals often move to cities to
advance their careers and enjoy diverse lifestyles. Cities also provide
advanced infrastructure that makes daily life more convenient.
Body Paragraph 2
On
the other hand, rural life is often associated with peace and good health. The
countryside provides fresh air, less pollution, and a slower pace of life,
which can reduce stress. Families living in villages may have closer relationships
with neighbors and communities. Moreover, organic food and outdoor activities
contribute to a healthier lifestyle.
Opinion
I personally believe that while cities are attractive for career and education,
countryside life is better for physical and mental well-being. A balanced life
could involve working in cities while retreating to rural areas when possible.
Conclusion
In conclusion, cities provide opportunities and convenience, whereas the
countryside offers health and peace. Although both have unique benefits, I feel
rural life ensures greater long-term happiness.
