  • You must repeat it exactly as you heard it.

Number of Questions

  • 10–12 sentences in the exam.

Time

  • Recording starts immediately after the beep.
  • You get 3 seconds of silence before the microphone closes.

2. What Does Repeat Sentence Test?

Repeat Sentence affects three major skills:

(A) Content (Accuracy)

  • How many words you repeat correctly?
  • Meaning must be the same.
  • Synonyms are not accepted.

(B) Fluency

  • Smooth, connected speech
  • No pauses > 0.5 seconds
  • No restarting or self-correction
  • Natural speed (not too fast or slow)

(C) Pronunciation

  • Clear, native-like pronunciation
  • Correct stress, intonation, and word clarity
  • No mumbling, no robotic tone

Repeat Sentence is extremely important because it contributes to:

  • Speaking
  • Listening

3. Types of Sentences in PTE Repeat Sentence

You will hear sentences like:

1 Short & Simple Sentences

  • “The library closes at seven.”

4. How to Increase Fluency

Fluency Rule 1: Never Pause

Even if you forget, keep speaking smoothly.

Fluency Rule 2: Use the “Shadowing” Technique

Practice repeating English sentences immediately after you hear them.

Fluency Rule 3: Use Chunking (Group Words)

Repeat chunks, not individual words.

Example:
“The economic impact of tourism has been widely discussed.”

Fluency Rule 4: No “um… ah…”

PTE penalizes fillers heavily.

Fluency Rule 5: Speak at a natural speed

80–90 words/minute is ideal.

5. How to Improve Pronunciation

Tip 1: Open your mouth clearly

Sharp vowel sounds = higher pronunciation score.

Tip 2: Maintain correct stress

  • IMPACT
  • econÓmic
  • devÉlopment

Tip 3: Reduce mother-tongue influence

Focus on:

  • /v/ vs /b/
  • /s/ vs /sh/
  • /z/ vs /j/
  • Final consonants ("impact", "find", "work")

Tip 4: Practice with AI tools

Record and listen to your speech daily.

6. How to Increase Content Score

Step 1: Listen to the First 4–5 Words

Your memory will pick the rest if you maintain rhythm.

Step 2: Use the “Syllable Echoing Technique”

Don’t memorize words—copy the melody.

Step 3: Repeat 70–80% of the sentence

Even if you miss a few words, continue speaking.

Example:
Heard: “The lecture on human psychology will begin at eleven.”
Said: “The lecture on human psychology will begin at eleven.”
(Even if you miss will, you still score high)

7. Practical Strategy (Guaranteed 65–79)

Step-by-step method

1.      Focus on the keywords (nouns, verbs, numbers).

2.      Repeat the tone while speaking.

3.      Keep smooth flow (fluency > 50% of score).

4.      Do not stop or correct yourself.

5.      Aim for 70% accuracy rather than perfect memory.

8. Sample Practice Sentences

    Speed
    Smoothness
    Word clarity

This practice guarantees improvement in:

  • Fluency
  • Pronunciation
  • Memory

Quick Memory Technique (Guaranteed Improvement)

Repeat these steps for every sentence:

1. Listen → Catch first 4–5 words

Your brain fills the rest automatically.

2. Repeat in chunks (not word-by-word)

This increases fluency and pronunciation instantly.
