PTE Summarize Group Discussion – Detailed Guide

PTE “Summarize Group Discussion” is a speaking task where you listen to a discussion among multiple speakers and then summarize the main points clearly in your own words.


Task Overview

  • 🎧 You will hear a group discussion (usually 2–4 speakers)
  • ⏱️ Audio length: 2–3 minutes
  • 📝 Preparation time: 10 seconds
  • 🎤 Speaking time: 40 seconds

Your goal:
Summarize the key ideas, opinions, and conclusion of the discussion.

Structure of a Good Answer

Use this simple structure 👇

1. Introduction (1 sentence)

  • State the topic of discussion

Example:

2. Main Points (2–3 sentences)

  • Mention different speakers’ views
  • Include agreements or disagreements

Example:
“One speaker argues that online learning is flexible and accessible, while another highlights challenges such as lack of interaction and distractions. A third participant mentions that technology improves learning efficiency but may reduce social skills.”


3. Conclusion (1 sentence)

  • Give overall summary or final opinion

Example:
“Overall, the discussion concludes that online education is beneficial but requires improvement to address its limitations.”
