Oakridge Public Library – Services and Rules

Oakridge Public Library serves the local community and welcomes visitors of all ages. The library opens at 8:30 a.m. from Monday to Friday and closes at 6:30 p.m. On Saturdays, it opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 3 p.m. The library remains closed on Sundays and public holidays.

A children's reading hour takes place every Saturday at 10 a.m. A writing workshop is held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. A guest speaker series runs on the last Friday of each month at 6 p.m. Seats for events are limited, and registration is required.

A small café near the entrance sells drinks and snacks from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library also has a bookshop that sells used books at low prices. All money from the bookshop supports library programs.

Cityrail Metro – Traveller Information

Cityrail Metro operates trains across the city centre and to surrounding suburbs. The network has 45 stations and carries over 200,000 passengers each day. Trains run from 5 a.m. to midnight every day of the year.

During peak hours (7–9 a.m. and 5–7 p.m.), trains run every 5 minutes on most lines. At other times, trains run every 10 to 15 minutes. On weekends, services run every 20 minutes. Night services after 11 p.m. run every 30 minutes.

Tickets can be purchased at station machines, at ticket counters, or through the Cityrail app. Fares depend on the distance travelled. A short trip within the city centre costs $2.80. A trip to the outer suburbs costs $6.50. Children under 6 travel free. Students with a valid card receive a 40% discount.

Travellers must tap their ticket or card at the gates before and after each journey. Failure to tap out may result in a maximum fare being charged. Inspectors may check tickets at any time. Passengers without a valid ticket may be fined $200.

Bicycles are allowed on trains except during peak hours. Foldable bicycles are permitted at all times. Dogs are allowed only if they are guide dogs or carried in a secure carrier. Food and drink are not permitted on trains, but water is allowed.

Northfield Community College – Evening Course Guide

Enrolment
