Future Tense with its four sub-types

 


                                                              Future tense

The verb form you use to talk about things that haven't happened yet but will happen in the near future.

1)     Simple Future tense: The simple future tense is a tense that is used to represent an action that takes place in the future.

Structure: Subject+ will/shall+verb1+ object.

Time adverbs

soon, then, next week/month/year, in 2 days, tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, the following day

1.      I shall write an essay.

2.      Ben will sing a good song.

3.      I shall work hard to obtain good marks.

4.      My father will go to California.

5.      He will become a good person.

6.      We shall go to school along.

7.      you will remember our whole life.

8.      John will play football tomorrow.

9.      I will learn a new language.

10. I am going to learn a new language.

11. Jen will not quit before she reaches her goal.

12. Jen is not going to quit before she reaches her goal

 

2. Future Continue Tense: The future continuous tense is a verb tense that shows an action happening over a period of time in the future.

Structure: Sub+ will be+ v4+ obj.

§  next week / month / year. This gives a time in the future. Examples: I'll be starting start at the new company next week.

§  later / this afternoon / tonight / tomorrow / soon. This gives a time in the near future.

Examples of Future Continuous Tense

1.      I will be writing the letter tomorrow.

2.      The baby will be playing the whole night.

3.      I will be helping my mother to make breakfast.

4.      Sheldon will be eating the cake later.

5.      Penny will be running the marathon tomorrow.

6.      She will be taking her dog for a walk.

 

3. Future perfect tense: The future perfect tense is used to describe an action that will. l have been completed at some point in the future.

Structure: Sub+ will have+v3 + obj.

Time adverbs

      by tomorrow, tonight, next week, next Saturday, next month.

      Before

      By the time

      By (a specific time)

      When

      After

      By (date/year)

      By then

      Until

      By the end of

      Till

      By the year 2022

Examples

1.      I will have been here for six months on June 23rd.

2.      By the time you read this I will have left.

3.      You will have finished your report by this time next week.

4.      Won't they have arrived by 5:00?

5.      Will you have eaten when I pick you up?

6.      Will have finished this book.

7.      You will have studied the English tenses.

8.      She will have cooked dinner.

9.      He will have arrived.

10. We will have met Julie.

11. It will have stopped raining.

12. They will have left Japan.

 

4. The future perfect continuous Tense: The future perfect continuous , also sometimes called the future perfect progressive, is a verb tense that describes actions that will continue up until a point in the future. 

Structure: Sub+ will have been +v4+obj.

Time adverbs

      The use of adverbs such as always, only, never, ever, still, just, etc.

      By + this year/ month/ week

      Next year/ month/ week

      For + an hour, for 5 years

      By then

      Since morning, since 1995

Examples

1.      By 3:00, they will have been studying for four hours.

2.      By the end of the summer, I will have been saving money for five months.

3.      By the time we finish the race, we will have been running for two hours.

4.      By the time he retires, he will have been working for 45 years.

5.      Robert will have been reading various kinds of books on this topic.

6.      They will have been playing football in that field before you reach.

7.      April will have been gossiping in the coffee shop before she comes here.

8.      Bob will have been studying in the library before he comes to the class.

9.      We will have been shopping in that market before you come home.

10. We will have been watching a movie in the Cineplex before you come.

11. You will have been shopping in that market before we come.

12. I will have been singing different kinds of songs before you join us.

13. I will have been attending the program before I come here.

14. Jeff will have been traveling around the world before he comes to Bangladesh.

15. They will have been playing hockey in that field before you reach.

16. The poet will have been writing a romantic poem before the program starts.

17. The lyricist will have been writing a realistic song for the film.

18. Will you have been going to the concert of the realistic songs before I come?

19. I will not have been attending the program before I finish this job.
