A simple explanation of the difference between "so" and "such"


1. SO

  • Meaning: To a great extent; very (used to emphasize an adjective or adverb).
  • Structure:
    • so + adjective
    • so + adverb
  • Examples:
    • The movie was so interesting!
    • She runs so quickly.
    • It’s so cold today.

2. Such

  • Meaning: Used to emphasize a noun (often combined with an adjective + noun).
  • Structure:
    • such + adjective + noun
    • such + noun
  • Examples:
    • It was such an interesting movie.
    • She is such a nice person.
    • They are such good friends.
