IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Hometown & Weather

1.      What is your country famous for?
Nepal is famous for its natural beauty, especially the Himalayas, including Mount Everest, the world's highest peak. It is also known for its rich culture, diverse traditions, and historical sites like Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

2.      Where do you live in your country?
I live in Club Chowk, Chitwan, which is a vibrant area in the central part of Nepal. Chitwan is known for its national park, rich wildlife, and pleasant environment.

3.      Is it an interesting place to live?
Yes, it is! Chitwan offers a mix of urban and natural life. The city is developing rapidly, with good facilities, but at the same time, we have beautiful rivers, forests, and wildlife, making it a peaceful and exciting place to live.

4.      Are you planning to live there in the future?
Yes, I would love to stay here in the future. However, if better opportunities come up elsewhere, I might consider moving, but Chitwan will always be home to me.

5.      How is the weather today?
Today, the weather is quite pleasant. It’s neither too hot nor too cold, with a mild breeze making it comfortable to go outside.

6.      What’s your favorite kind of weather?
I love cool and breezy weather, especially during autumn. The temperature is just right, and the air feels fresh, making it perfect for outdoor activities.

7.      Is there any type of weather you really don’t like?
Yes, I don’t like extreme heat. In summer, when the temperature rises too much, it becomes difficult to go outside and feels very uncomfortable.

8.      What is the climate like in your country?
Nepal has a diverse climate due to its geography. The southern region is hot and humid, the central region has a moderate climate, and the northern region is cold, especially in the mountains.

9.      Does the weather affect people’s lives in your country?
Yes, it does. Farmers depend on the monsoon for their crops, and extreme weather conditions like heavy rainfall or drought can affect their livelihoods. Also, in winter, life can be difficult in mountainous areas due to heavy snowfall.

10. Do people change in the summer?
Yes, in summer, people prefer to stay indoors during the hottest hours of the day. They also wear lighter clothes, drink more cold drinks, and some even travel to cooler places like hill stations.

11. Does bad weather ever affect transport in your country?
Yes, especially during the monsoon season, heavy rains can cause landslides that block roads in hilly areas. In winter, flights to mountain regions often get canceled due to poor visibility and snowfall.

IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Hometown

1.      Can you tell me about your hometown?
I am from Kalika Ji, New Delhi, which is a bustling area in India’s capital city. It is known for its lively atmosphere, busy markets, and a mix of modern and traditional lifestyles. There are many restaurants, shopping centers, and historical places nearby, making it an exciting place to live.

2.      How has your hometown changed over the years?
Over the years, my hometown has developed a lot. There are now better roads, metro stations, and shopping complexes. The population has also grown, making it more crowded, but at the same time, facilities and services have improved significantly.

3.      Is there any way your hometown could be made better?
Yes, traffic congestion is a major issue, so better traffic management and more green spaces would make the area more livable. Also, reducing pollution would improve the overall quality of life.

4.      Are there good transportation links to your hometown?
Yes, transportation is excellent. We have metro stations, buses, and auto-rickshaws, making it easy to travel around the city. The Indira Gandhi International Airport is also not too far, which is convenient for traveling outside the country.

5.      What kind of jobs do the people in your hometown do?
Since New Delhi is the capital city, people work in a variety of fields, including government jobs, corporate offices, IT companies, and retail businesses. Many people also run their own shops and restaurants.

6.      Do you have a lot of friends?
Yes, I have many friends, both from school and work. I enjoy spending time with them, going out for meals, or just having casual conversations.

7.      Who is your best friend and why?
My best friend is Rohit. We have known each other since childhood, and he is always supportive and trustworthy. We share similar interests, and I can always count on him for advice or help.

8.      Who would you most like to be friends with and why?
I would love to be friends with someone who is positive and ambitious. Being around such people motivates me to do better in life.

9.      What kind of person can you make friends with easily?
I can easily make friends with people who are friendly, open-minded, and have a good sense of humor. If someone is kind and respectful, I naturally feel comfortable around them.

10. Which is more important to you, friends or family?
Both are important, but family comes first. They are always there for me no matter what. However, good friends also play a vital role in life by providing support and companionship.

 

IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Lifestyle & Work

1.      What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy reading books, especially novels. I also like spending time with my friends and family, going for walks, and sometimes, I watch movies or listen to music to relax.

2.      Do you have a busy social life?
Not very busy, but I do enjoy catching up with friends and family regularly. We usually meet on weekends for outings or casual get-togethers. I like keeping a balance between social life and personal time.

3.      Do you lead an active life?
Yes, I try to stay active. I often go for a morning jog or walk, and I enjoy doing yoga. Staying active helps me stay healthy and feel energized throughout the day.

4.      Has your life changed much in the last year?
Yes, it has. I started working and became more independent, which has taught me to manage my time better. I also moved to a new place, which has given me a chance to explore new surroundings.

5.      What would you like to change about your lifestyle?
I would like to make more time for exercise and self-care. Sometimes, work and other responsibilities take up most of my time, so I want to improve my time management and prioritize my health more.

6.      Do you work right now?
Yes, I am currently working as a teacher at a local school. It’s a fulfilling job where I get to interact with students and contribute to their learning and development.

7.      Do you get on well with your co-workers?
Yes, I have a good relationship with my colleagues. We work together to ensure the students have the best experience, and we often collaborate on different activities. It's a friendly and supportive environment.

8.      What responsibilities do you have at your work?
As a teacher, my main responsibilities include planning lessons, teaching students, grading assignments, and providing support to students who need extra help. I also participate in school events and help create a positive learning environment.

9.      Are there good work opportunities in your home country?
Yes, there are growing work opportunities in Nepal, especially in education, tourism, and the IT sector. However, competition can be tough, and many young people move abroad for better opportunities. Still, there are some good jobs available locally.

IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Family & Housework

1.      How many people are there in your immediate family?
There are five people in my immediate family: my parents, two siblings, and me.

2.      Who do you get on best with in your family?
I get along best with my mother. She’s very supportive and understanding, and we share a strong bond.

3.      Do you have a large extended family?
Yes, I have a fairly large extended family, including uncles, aunts, cousins, and grandparents. We often meet during festivals and special occasions.

4.      What do you do together with your family?
We enjoy spending time together, especially during festivals. We cook meals, pray together, and sometimes go on short trips to relax.

5.      Why is family important to you?
Family is important because they provide emotional support, love, and a sense of belonging. They are always there to help in times of need.

6.      Do you do housework at home?
Yes, I do help with housework. I believe it’s important to contribute to maintaining a clean and organized home.

7.      What kind of housework do you often do?
I often do the dishes, clean the house, and help with cooking when needed. I also take care of laundry occasionally.

8.      Did you do housework when you were a child?
Yes, I did. I helped my mother with cleaning, watering plants, and organizing things around the house.

9.      Do you think that children should do housework?
Yes, I believe children should help with housework. It teaches them responsibility and the importance of contributing to the family.

IELTS Speaking Part 1 – Books & TV

1.      Do you like watching TV?
Yes, I enjoy watching TV. It’s a great way to relax and stay informed. I usually watch it in the evening after work.

2.      How often do you watch TV?
I watch TV about three to four times a week, mainly in the evening or on weekends when I have more free time.

3.      What kind of TV programmes do you like to watch?
I enjoy watching news programs, documentaries, and a few reality shows. I also like watching dramas and movies during my leisure time.

4.      What are the most popular TV shows in your country?
In Nepal, some of the most popular TV shows include reality shows like The Voice Nepal and Nepal Idol. We also have various news channels and talk shows that are widely watched.

5.      Has the internet affected your viewing habits?
Yes, the internet has affected my viewing habits. I often stream shows online through platforms like YouTube or Netflix instead of watching traditional TV. It offers more flexibility and a wider range of content.

6.      How often do you read?
I try to read every day, especially in the evening or during my free time. I read for about 30 minutes to an hour on most days.

7.      Do you like reading books? Why?
Yes, I love reading books. It helps me relax, learn new things, and escape into different worlds. Books provide knowledge and also enhance my vocabulary.

8.      Do you have many books at home?
Yes, I have a small collection of books at home, ranging from fiction to educational books. I enjoy collecting books over time.

9.      Do you prefer to buy books or borrow them?
I prefer buying books because I like to keep them in my personal collection. However, I do borrow books from the library occasionally if I need something specific.

10. What are the benefits of reading?
Reading has many benefits. It improves knowledge, stimulates the mind, enhances vocabulary, and helps in stress reduction. It also broadens perspectives and develops imagination.
