 Use of Will, and Be+ going

1. "Will + base verb"

Used for:

Purpose

Example

Nepali Translation

Decisions made at the moment

I will help you.

तिमीलाई सहयोग गर्नेछु।

Promises/offers

I will call you tonight.

तिमीलाई आज राति फोन गर्नेछु।

Predictions (based on opinion or guess)

I think it will rain tomorrow.

मलाई लाग्छ भोलि पानी पर्छ।

2. "Be going to + base verb"

Used for:

Purpose

Example

Nepali Translation

Planned future actions

I am going to visit my uncle next week.

अर्को हप्ता काका भेट्न जान लागेको छु।

Predictions based on present evidence

Look at those clouds! It’s going to rain.

ती बादल हेर्नुहोस्! पानी पर्न लाग्दैछ।


Structure of "going to"

         i.            I am going to eat.

        ii.            You are going to travel.

      iii.            He/She is going to study.

Examples with Nepali meaning

1.      I will buy a new phone.
नयाँ फोन किन्नेछु। (decision now)

2.      I’m going to buy a new phone next week.
अर्को हप्ता नयाँ फोन किन्ने योजना मा छु। (already planned)

3.      Look at the sky! It’s going to rain.
आकाश हे! पानी पर्नै लाग्यो।

4.      Don’t worry, I will take care of it.
चिन्ता नलिअा, यसलाई मिलाउनेछु।

 

Ways to express future actions in detail

1. Will + base verb (V1)

Use: Spontaneous decisions, predictions, promises, or offers
Structure: Subject + will + V1
Examples:

  1. I will help you with your homework. (offer)
  2. She will travel to Japan next year. (prediction)

2. Be going to + base verb (V1)

Use: Planned actions, intentions, or something likely to happen soon
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + going to + V1
Examples:

  1. I am going to start a new course next week. (plan)
  2. Look at those clouds! It is going to rain. (prediction based on evidence)

3. Present Continuous (for planned future events)

Use: Definite arrangements in the near future
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + V-ing
Examples:

  1. We are meeting the manager at 10 a.m.
  2. She is flying to London tomorrow.

4. Simple Present (for schedules/timetables)

Use: Timetables, routines, or official programs
Structure: Subject + base verb (V1)
Examples:

  1. The train leaves at 6:30 p.m.
  2. My exam starts next Monday.

5. Be about to + base verb (V1)

Use: Something very soon to happen
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + about to + V1
Examples:
