A Report on a Visit to Lumbini

By: Balram Shah
Place: Chitwan
Date: 15 December 2025

Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is one of the most important historical and religious sites in Nepal. I recently visited Lumbini with a group of students as part of an educational tour organized by our college. The main objective of the visit was to gain historical knowledge and understand the cultural significance of the place.

We started our journey early in the morning and reached Lumbini after several hours of travel. The peaceful environment and well-managed surroundings created a calm atmosphere. Upon arrival, we noticed many visitors from different countries, which showed the global importance of Lumbini as a centre of Buddhism and world heritage.

During the visit, we explored important historical sites such as the Maya Devi Temple, Ashoka Pillar, and the Sacred Garden. The inscriptions on the Ashoka Pillar provided valuable information about Emperor Ashoka’s visit in ancient times. We also visited various monasteries built by different countries, which reflected rich cultural diversity and architectural beauty.

The visit helped us understand the life, teachings, and philosophy of Lord Buddha. Our guide explained the historical background and religious importance of Lumbini in a clear and informative manner. The tour enhanced our respect for Nepal’s cultural heritage and increased our awareness of the need to preserve historical sites.

In conclusion, the visit to Lumbini was educational and inspiring. It enriched our historical knowledge and provided a peaceful learning experience. Such visits play an important role in developing cultural awareness among students and should be encouraged regularly.

A Report on a Visit to Pokhara

By: Gita Ghimire

Place: Nawalparasi

Date: 15 December 2025

I recently visited Pokhara, one of the most popular tourist destinations of Nepal, with a group of friends during our winter vacation. The purpose of the visit was to relax, explore natural beauty, and learn more about the cultural and geographical importance of the city. The tour was well planned and proved to be both enjoyable and educational.

Our journey began early in the morning from Nawalparasi by bus. After several hours of travel through winding roads and scenic hills, we reached Pokhara by afternoon. The pleasant weather and calm environment instantly refreshed us. The view of the Annapurna range, along with green hills and lakes, created a peaceful and charming atmosphere that impressed everyone.

During our stay, we visited many famous places in Pokhara. We enjoyed boating on Phewa Lake and admired the reflection of Machhapuchhre on its water. We also visited Davis Falls, Gupteshwor Cave, Bindabasini Temple, and the International Mountain Museum. Each place provided us with valuable knowledge about Nepal’s natural heritage, religious traditions, and mountaineering history.

Besides sightseeing, we experienced the lifestyle and culture of the local people. The hospitality of the residents and the delicious local food made our stay comfortable and memorable. We also walked around Lakeside in the evening, enjoying music, shops, and the lively environment, which added joy to our visit.

In conclusion, the visit to Pokhara was a wonderful and enriching experience. It helped us learn beyond textbooks and refresh our minds. The trip strengthened our friendship and created unforgettable memories. Pokhara truly deserves its title as the “Tourism Capital of Nepal,” and I hope to visit it again in the future.
