IELTS Speaking – Part 1 (Introduction & Interview)

Examiner: Good morning. Can you tell me your full name, please?
Rabin: Good morning. My name is Rabin Khanal.

Examiner: Where are you from?
Rabin: I’m from Shanti Chowk, Tandi, which is located in Chitwan district, Nepal.


Topic: Home / Hometown

Q1. Do you live in a house or a flat?
I live in a house with my family. It’s a two-storey building with a small garden in front.

Q2. What do you like most about your hometown?
What I like most is the peaceful environment and friendly people. It’s not as crowded as big cities, so life is quite comfortable.

Q3. Is your hometown a good place for young people?
Yes, I think so. There are good schools, colleges, and growing job opportunities. Also, young people can enjoy both nature and modern facilities.


Topic: Daily Routine

Q4. What do you usually do in the morning?
In the morning, I usually wake up early, take a short walk, have breakfast, and then get ready for my work or studies.

Q5. Do you like your daily routine?
Yes, I do. It keeps me disciplined and productive, although sometimes it becomes a bit repetitive.


Topic: Free Time

Q6. What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I like listening to music, watching movies, and sometimes spending time with friends.

Q7. Do you prefer spending free time alone or with others?
I prefer spending time with others because it helps me relax and socialize, but occasionally I enjoy being alone as well.


IELTS Speaking – Part 2 (Long Turn)

Sample Answer:

A place near my home where I really like to spend time is a small public park located close to Shanti Chowk in Tandi, Chitwan. It is only about a five-minute walk from my house, so it is very convenient for me to visit whenever I need a break from my daily routine.

I usually go there either early in the morning or in the evening. In the morning, I enjoy taking a slow walk while breathing in the fresh air, which helps me feel energetic for the rest of the day. In the evening, I often sit on a bench, watch people around me, or chat with friends who also visit the park regularly. Sometimes, I listen to music using my earphones, and at other times, I simply sit quietly and think about my future goals, studies, and personal plans.

I visit this park three to four times a week, especially when I feel stressed, tired, or mentally exhausted. If I have had a long or difficult day, spending some time there really helps me relax and regain my focus.

I like this place mainly because it is peaceful, clean, and refreshing. It is surrounded by trees and greenery, which creates a calm atmosphere away from noise and traffic. Being in this environment helps me clear my mind, reduce stress, and maintain both my physical and mental health. In today’s busy and competitive life, having such a place near home is extremely valuable, and that is why this park has become one of my favorite places to spend time.

Topic: Public Places & Lifestyle

Q1. Why are public places important for people?
Public places are important because they allow people to relax, socialize, and exercise. They also improve mental health and create a sense of community.

Q2. Do people in Nepal spend enough time outdoors?
Compared to the past, I think people spend less time outdoors now because of mobile phones and social media. However, in places like Chitwan, many people still enjoy outdoor activities.

Q3. How can the government encourage people to use public spaces?
The government can build more parks and recreational areas, keep them clean, and organize events like yoga programs or sports activities.

Q4. Do you think life in small towns is better than in big cities?
In my opinion, life in small towns is less stressful and more affordable. However, big cities offer better job opportunities, so both have advantages and disadvantages.

Q5. How do public places affect children and young people?
Public places help children and young people become physically active and socially confident. They also reduce stress and improve overall development.

Rabin: I chose Physics because it helps us understand how the universe works. I enjoy explaining complex concepts in a simple and practical way.

Examiner: Do you enjoy teaching?
Rabin: Yes, I really enjoy it. Teaching gives me satisfaction, especially when students finally understand difficult topics.

Examiner: What do you usually do after school?
Rabin: After school, I usually prepare lesson plans, check students’ assignments, or relax by walking or listening to music.

Describe a place near your home where you like to spend time.


Sample Answer (≈300 words):

A place near my home where I like to spend time is a small riverside area known locally as the Rapti River bank, which is located not far from Bhandara in Chitwan. It is about ten to fifteen minutes’ walk from my house, making it very convenient to visit regularly.

I usually go there in the early morning or late evening, especially after finishing my teaching duties at Rapti Secondary School. When I am there, I enjoy walking along the riverbank, breathing in the fresh air, and watching the flow of the river. Sometimes, I sit quietly and reflect on my day at school, thinking about how my Physics classes went and how I can improve my teaching methods. On some occasions, I also meet friends or colleagues, and we discuss educational issues or general topics.

I visit this place three or four times a week, particularly when I feel mentally tired due to checking exam papers or preparing lessons.

I like this place because it is peaceful, natural, and refreshing. The calm environment helps me reduce stress and regain mental energy. As a Physics teacher, concentration and clarity of thought are very important, and spending time near the river helps me stay focused and motivated. Overall, this riverside place plays a significant role in maintaining my mental well-being and work-life balance.

Schools can organize outdoor activities, sports events, and educational trips.

Q4. Do you think technology has reduced face-to-face interaction?
Yes, technology has reduced direct interaction, although it has made communication faster.

Q5. Should the government invest more in public spaces? Why?
Yes, investing in public spaces improves public health, social harmony, and quality of life.
