Quick Native Tips for These Expressions
1.
"Man
parchha" (मन पर्छ) vs "Man pardaina" (मन पर्दैन)
– This is the most common way to say "like" and "dislike"
in Nepal. Use it for everything—food, people, places, and activities.
2.
Use
"Dherai" (धेरै) to intensify:
o
Malai
dherai man parchha = I like it very much (or I love it).
3.
For
choices, Nepalis often use "Bhanda" (भन्दा)
which means "than":
o
Chia
bhanda coffee = Coffee than tea (I prefer coffee over
tea).
4.
Politeness
matters: Instead of saying "I hate it" directly,
Nepalis often say "Malai tyati man
pardaina" (मलाई त्यति मन पर्दैन) – "I don't like it that much." It softens
the blow!
