Introduction / परिचय

The present continuous tense is used to talk about actions that are happening right now, at the moment of speaking, or around the present time. It can also describe temporary situations and planned future events.

अपूर्ण वर्तमान काल भनेको अहिले भइरहेको, वर्तमान समयमा चलिरहेको, वा अस्थायी रूपमा जारी रहेको काम देखाउन प्रयोग गरिने काल हो। यसले भविष्यमा गर्ने योजना पनि जनाउन सक्छ।

Subject + is/am/are + V4 (verb + ing) + Object

Key Rules / मुख्य नियमहरू

1.      Helping verb agreement:

o    Iam

o    He / She / It / Singularis

o    We / You / They / Pluralare

2.      V4 (verb + ing) spelling rules:

o    Most verbs: add -ing → play → playing

o    Verbs ending in -e (silent): drop e, add -ing → write → writing

o    Verbs ending in consonant + vowel + consonant (CVC): double the last consonant → run → running, sit → sitting

o    Verbs ending in -ie: change ie to y, add -ing → lie → lying, die → dying

3.      Stative verbs (love, know, understand, believe, etc.) are usually not used in continuous form.

o    ✅ I know the answer. ❌ I am knowing the answer.

4.      Question form: Helping verb comes before the subject.

o    Is she cooking?

5.      Negative form: Add not after the helping verb.

o    She is not cooking.
